BSYSTEMS IS AMONGST THE TOP 50
Bsystems Limited is proof that Ghanaian entrepreneurship in the information technology sector is able to produce firms that can compete with their best foreign counterparts. Over the seven years of its existence, Bsystems has grown to
ten-fold, inspired by Thomas Baafi, its founder and
chief executive, who has brought his considerable experience gained in the United States to bear.
The company began as an Oracle country partner, delivering Oracle products and services to the corporate marketplace and has since expanded its
portfolio to include training, the development of applications ranging from human resource and payroll software, asset and brokerages management solutions, to a ground-breaking identity verification system.
Last year. Bsystems developed two new softwares that should be of crucial use to financial institutions in Ghana. These are iAsset. a fund-processing management system and iBrokerage, a comprehensive brokerage management system. Each software has various versions based on capacity, but it is instructive that the smaller versions are barely one-tenth the cost of the foreign-designed software that Ghanaian financial institutions have been forced to use so far.
Bsystems now has an enviable client-base of leading Ghanaian institutions; including Ghana Commercial Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Ecobank Ghana, Merchant Bank, SIC Financial Services, Global Access and the Revenue Agencies Governing Board.
Baafi says: “A year from now we expect to have broken into the Ghana Club 100 and be listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange.”
